On 24 May 2024, Warees Investments, in a joint-venture with Muis-managed Wakafs, broke ground for a new commercial mixed development comprising a 90-key service residence as well as commercial retail and dining spaces. Nestled strategically in the heart of Chinatown, the development will be built on Wakaf (Trust) land and has been named "Jamae Chulia Heritage".

The Ascott Limited - the lodging business unit wholly owned by CapitaLand Investment (CLI) - has been commissioned to manage the service residence under the Lyf brand. When completed, Lyf @ Chinatown located within Jamae Chulia Heritage will connect Mosque Street and Pagoda Street and will be a truly unique boutique development that aims to meet the contemporary needs and trends of travellers while remaining respectful to the diverse traditions and culture of the area.

Jamae Chulia Heritage is the fourth instalment in the Wakaf Revitalisation Scheme (WRS) by Warees and Muis to unlock the Wakaf’s value and is part of an overall Wakaf Strategic Blueprint after having recently completed a joint comprehensive review of all the Wakaf assets here in Singapore.

Jamae Chulia Heritage is expected to be completed by mid-2026. More details on leasing of the commercial spaces will be available closer to its completion.
