On 24 May 2024, Warees Investments, in a joint-venture with Muis-managed Wakafs, broke ground for a new commercial mixed development comprising a 90-key service residence as well as commercial retail and dining spaces. Nestled strategically in the heart of Chinatown, the development will be built on Wakaf (Trust) land and has been named "Jamae Chulia Heritage".
Designed by award-winning global multidisciplinary architectural and engineering design group, RSP Architects, as well as renowned interior design consultancy firm, FARM, Jamae Chulia Heritage takes pride in its unsurpassed location, by tapping on the rich diversity of its surrounding area through active placemaking where each spaces presents an opportunity to tell and inspire a story through architecture and history, particularly for the Indian Muslim Community.
The Ascott Limited - the lodging business unit wholly owned by CapitaLand Investment (CLI) - has been commissioned to manage the service residence under the Lyf brand. When completed, Lyf @ Chinatown located within Jamae Chulia Heritage will connect Mosque Street and Pagoda Street and will be a truly unique boutique development that aims to meet the contemporary needs and trends of travellers while remaining respectful to the diverse traditions and culture of the area.
lyf (or ‘live your freedom’) and pronounced as ‘life’ caters to the next-generation travelers, digital nomads, technopreneurs, creatives, and self-starters seeking a dynamic environment for live, work, and play. The lyf brand champions experience-led social living, offering curated experiences and social programs to foster connections within the community.
The lyf brand's Live, Work, Play concept ensures that residents have tastefully designed and functional apartments with shared social spaces, such as various workspaces for individual and project work, and a range of curated content pillars focusing on (i) Arts, Culture & Entertainment, (ii) Fashion, Beauty & Design, (iii) Health & Wellness, (iv) Technology & Sustainability, and (v) Food & Beverage.
As lyf Chinatown Singapore is strategically located in Chinatown, its lyf-styled content pillar focuses on the Arts and Culture where residents can participate in the curated experiences centred around this theme. The locale is also known for its dining hotspots and vibrant communities, thus enriching guests’ overall living experience.
Jamae Chulia Heritage is the fourth instalment in the Wakaf Revitalisation Scheme (WRS) by Warees and Muis to unlock the Wakaf’s value and is part of an overall Wakaf Strategic Blueprint after having recently completed a joint comprehensive review of all the Wakaf assets here in Singapore.
Jamae Chulia Heritage is expected to be completed by mid-2026. More details on leasing of the commercial spaces will be available closer to its completion.
